BAND CONTEST.

NEW ZEALAND EXECUTIVE. Following the consideration of a letter from the Palmerston North Band Contest Committee by the executive of the Neiv Zealand Brass Bands’ Association, on Wednesday, it was decided to call a full meeting of the gen. eral executive for to-day. The management committee thought the matter so important that a full meeting of the executive, which comprises members from both islands, ivas desirable. Mr H. D. Bennett (Wellington) presided at the meeting on Wednesday. The secretary of the New Zealand Brass Bands’ Association (Mr J. G. Osborne) has stated in a letter to the Palmerston North Contest Committee that it is not within the powers of the management committee to vary resolutions adopted at the annual conferences, and consequently it has been considered necessary to call a full meeting of the executive. That if the Palmerston North Committee cannot see its way to hold the contest under the terms set out, Wanganui should offer to conduct it, is a suggestion made by an exchange from that city.
