(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIKOREA, Sept. 21. The monthly meeting ol the Taikorca Women's was held in t| ie Coronation Hall on Wednesday, September 6, when Mrs li. O', llill presided over a good attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdumes J. Mudford, Lucinsky, Frier and Miss D. Sexton. A report ofthe group committee meeting was given by Miss M. Smith, the local "delegate. An interesting and helpful talk on gardening was given by Miss Bradlield, of Fahnerston North. The Liring-and-buy stall proved very successful. Mis Kghnton won the trophy presented by M rs Lucinsky for the best, scarf and beret. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Cook. Egtnton, Pearce and- Miss M. Eglinton. A vote of thanks was accorded Miss Bradlield, after
which the singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close. _ On Thursday last the School Committee held its usual meeting, there being present Messrs Hid (chairman), E Fruit (secretary) F Frint, A. Castle and E. Cornwall. The headmaster (Mr J. C. Ward) was also present. 'Hie usual business was transacted and accounts passed for payment. Advice was received from the Education Board that the application for a new flagpole for the school had been granted. The Taikorea Sports Club held a meetmo- on the 14th iust., which was very well attended It was decided to commence cricket practice immediately. The secretary was instructed to write to the Oroua Downs Club and arrange a match with T .>a A vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Craven Bros, and A, Richmond for the use of the ground for the cricket uifch last season. Messrs Carroll Bros, offered a playing ground for the coming year and were thanked for thdii offer. Mr O’(on nor "was appointed club captain. A report of the football ball, which proved a very successful function, was given. A
slight debit balance showing in the ball account was settled. With the warmer weather the milkiug season is rapidly moving to its peak. The Taikorca Dairy Coy. is now making 21 cheese daily. Mr Sawcrs, -Government instructor, spent two days at the factory last week. Mr ICidd. senr., has boon visiting his son, Mr A. Kidd. Taikorca. Mr Brown has returned to Wanganui after a visit to Mr and Mrs Ward.
