SIR GEORGE FOWLDS.
SERVICES RECOGNISED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 22 Testimony to the public appreciation of the work of Sir George Fowids for the city and the country for many years was given at a public meeting in the Town Hall this afternoon when the Mayor (Mr G. W. Hutchison) presented him with a cheque for £1350 subscribed by the citizens, and glowing tributes were paid by representative speakers to his character, capacity and service.
