MANAWATU CO-OP. BUILDING SOCIETY.
APPROPRIATIONS OR £4OOO. A general meeting of shareholders of the Manawatu Co-operative Building Society was held last night, Mr G. GPriest presiding. An apology was received from Mr J. J. O’Shea. Before proceeding with the appropriations the chairman remarked that over £120,000 had been advanced to shareholders to purchase homes, and despite the trying conditions it was splendid to see the way shareholders were keeping up their repayments. It was the regularity by which subscriptions were paid that shareholders were participating in frequent appropriations, remarked the chairman. Results were: —No. 1 group, J. Egan (Palmerston North), £300; Mrs J. H. Pattle (Jolinsonville), £2OO. No. 2 group, E. Cook (Palmerston North), £SOO. No. 3 group, Mrs F. I. McKegg (Palmerston North), £SOO. No. 5 group (tender), £SOO at £35 Is peY iiOO. No. 6 group, Miss N. Grocott (Wellington), £SOO, C. Campbell (Wanganui), £3OO. A vote of thanks to the scrutineers, Messrs G. H. Neal and V. Goldfinch; was passed.
