INDIA DESIRES RETENTION. CALCUTTA, Sept. 19. The proposed transfer of the control of Aden from Delhi to Whitehall lias raised a storm of protest in India, mainly on behalf of the salt merchants. Speakers in the Assembly referred to the amount of Indian money invested in Aden, which they wanted to keep for India, forgetting the amount of British money invested in India when demanding their own independence. Sir George Schuster said the Government was not taking sides, and left the House to decide. Eventually a motion was paseed conveying to the British Government the strong desire of the people of India that the proposed transfer should not tako place.
