During this year's very hot summer in England the crowds at seaside resorts have been exceptionally large. Our illustration top left shows the seafront at Brighton on the August bank holiday. Another summer scene illustrated is the Battle of Flowers at Jersey. An old-time galley was a striking feature of the procession. The children decked with medals are Irish dancers taking part in the Welsh Eisteddfod, that great national festival of song dance, and poetry. The bearded man on the top right is an orthodox Hindu who broke the rules of his religion to cross the sea to give evidence before the British Committee on Indian Reforms. Note the caste marl. on his forehead. Mr. Archarya is opposed to Gandhi's policy. When he returns he will do penance for his voyage.
