STARVING STOCK.

RAIL CONCESSION TO BE AVlTHdrawn; Owing to the general improvement in conditions, and to the better seasonal prospects, the New South Wales Government has decided to withdraw the concessions which have been operating for the past four months in the carriage of fodder and water for starving stock. At the beginning of Alay last it was announced that a special rate of 10s per four-wheeled truck would be charged on fodder and 8s per 1000 gallons on water, obtained by rail for the purpose of keeping starving stock alive. These practically nominal rates applied to consignments carried any distance in New South Wales, and the total saving to graziers and other primary producers is estimated by the department at £IOO,OOO.
