Tlie Auckland Harbour Board today adopted the following resolution : “That this board views with grave concern the Railways Board’s action in instituting the ‘truck system,’ thereby undercutting freight rates between coastal ports, and strongly urges the executives of the Harbours Association and Shipowners’ Federation to press for a conference wtli members of the Railways Board to discuss the railway policy in connection with shipping services' at coastal ports, and that, failing this, the Government be asked to appoint a Royal Commission to inquire into railway competition with shipping services.”
