TIAKITAHUNA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TIALCITAHUNA, Sept. 18. The Tiakitahuna Hall Committee met on Wednesday evening, Mr W. Rowland presiding. Also present were Messrs W. Jeffrey, L). Rowland and W. _ McEwcn. After disposing of the usual business, ways and means of raising funds were discussed, and it was finally decided to continue the Gag five hundred tournaments which were so successful last season. A social evening was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs W. Jeffrey, last Thursday night, in honour of Miss J. Ferguson, who is leaving the district. The time yras pleasantly spent in games, dancing and competitions. There was a large and appreciative audience at the concert and dance held by the Women's Institute last Friday evening. The hall was decorated with tangerine and black streamers, paper poppies and spring foliage. The programme was as follows:—Mrs Amadio, songs; school children, canoe song; members of Whakarongo Institute, plavettc, “The Duchess Snowed In”; Mrs Fell, songs; Mr Amadio, humorous monologue. Members of the local institute playettc, ‘‘Between the Soup and the Savoury.” Mrs Davies, president of the institute, thanked those present for their patronage and all who had helped to make the function a success. Mrs Davies made special mention of the Whakarongo Institute members who kindly contributed the programme with their most enjoyable plavctto. The duties of M.O’s were capably carried out by Mosdames W. Davies and W. Rowland. The friends of Mrs S. Ross will regret to hear of the death of her father, Mr W. Davey, of Oroua Downs. Mr P. Parker, of Jaekoytown Road, is confined-to his bed, due to ail accident which befell him a few days ago. Miss M. Matheson, of Now Plymouth, is visiting her cousin. Miss F. Matheson. Mr K. Nielsen, who is not in good health after his unfortunate accident a few months ago is staying with relatives in Palmerston North.
