ARBOR DAY RECOGNISED.

TERRACE END SCHOOL. The official Arbor Day celebration was held at the Terrace End School yesterday, when the pupils in the standard classes wore addressed by Mr D. MacPlierson, Conservator of Forests, stationed at Palmerston North. The speaker was introduced by Mr W. L. Macpherson, the chairman of the School Committee. In giving a very informative quarter of an hour’s talk to the children Mr D. MacPlierson dealt with the work of afforestation that was being carried out in different countries of the world, giving comparative figures. For this year’s activities in regard to the planting of trees, the Terrace End School has completed a belt of some 200 redwoods and macrocapas.
