ROAD CYCLING.
COUNTIES’ CASH CLUB
Five starters took part in the 32mile road race conducted by the Manawatu Counties’ Cash Cycling Club on Saturday afternoon. The course was to Ashhurst, Bunnythorpe and Feilding, the return being made to Terrace End via Vogel Street. The journey was a gruelling one owing to the stiff head wind experienced on the outward journey. The placings were as follow—W. Collins (Bmin.), lhr. 33min. 1; B. McBrearty (13Jmin.) lhr. 39imin. 2; C. Bailey (lOlmin.) 3. Fastest time was made by W. Collins, who heat the second man home by 150 yards. M. Luxmore (Bmin.) and IV. Rodgers (20min.) also started, but the former punctured a tyre at Ashhurst. The handicapper was Mr G. Mayo, the starter and timekeeper being Mr B. Crawley. THE AMATEUR EVENT. The Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club’s projected race to Bulls and hack was not held, owing to an insufficiency of starters.
