SEQUEL TO RAID.

GAMING ACT ENFORCED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 9. Forcing the door of premises known as the Manchester Club at 2 o’clock this morning, a police party seized gaming material and took the names of 22 persons found on the premises. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day the proprietor, Jules Menzoni, was fined £75 for keeping a common gaming house and 18 men found on the premises were each fined £3 and three others £4. The police stated that fairly elaborate precautions had been taken against a surprise attack.
