LONG CALL TO POLICE

SYDNEY TO LONDON. CONSTABLE’S GOOD WORK. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received September 11. 1.5 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 10. While practicing at Ilkley, Police Constable Curran, who is a member, of the Australian League football team, received a message from the Police Commissioner at Sydney instructing him to go to London to make inquiries concerning the smuggling case at Sydney, involving certain Londoners. Constable Curran caught the next train to London and went to Scotland Yard, where lie met a couple. A detective was promptly detailed to assist Constable Curran, consequently his mission was a complete success. He also had tho' privilege of seeing the inside working of Scotland Yard, the departmental Chiefs explaining the details of this crime-tracking machine. Constable Curran has now rejoined the team.
