TAX ON WAGES.
DEFIANCE IN MANITOBA. ,
WINNIPEG, May 6. Open defiance is greeting the Manitoba announcement of a 2 cents tax on all wages. City officials ordered no salary, or cheque deductions as called for. Agricultural workers’ union officials declare they will go to gaol first. Three thousand workers held a protest demonstration before Parliament buildings.
