GOLF. On Saturday afternoon tire FeildMg Golf Club played a tombstone match. The best score was that of V. J. Stichbury who got as far as the 20th hole with a gross score of 76, one over the standard scratch score for the course. Stichbury did the first round in 35, two under the standard. On the 18th green he required a 5 to square lrim with the course bogey of 75, but the hole cost him seven strokes to make his score 40. Stichbury’s card read as follows: Out: 53545442 4—36. In: 43 5 4 5 5 4 3 7—40. With his handicap of 8, Stichbury thus recorded a net 68 and “dying” just short of the 20th hole gave him the competition. H. S. Hewitson was the next best, his score of 87—16 71 taking him to the 19th hole. Inthe B grade match L. F. Gray claimed the verdict when he “died” 61 yards from the 19th hole with a score of 93—20 —73. B. G. Connell was close up second, ten yards further away, with a 90—17—73. These were the only cards returned.
AWmbers are reminded that next week-end the annual fixture against
the Dannevirke Club will take place on the Dannevirke links. This engagement will be a match for the GrahamChadwick Cup. HOCKEY. The hockey matches played under the Feilding Hockey Association on Saturday resulted as follow: LADIES’ GAMES. Carnarvon 4 v. Hinekoa 0; H.S.O.G. 2 v. Colyton 0; Ohakea a bve. MEN’S GAMES. Carnarvon 4 v. Wanderers 4; Stanway 7 v. Pirates 1; Colyton 3 v. Tokorangi 1. BOROFGH COUNCIL. On Wednesday morning the newlyelected Feilding Borough Council will meet to make the necessary declarations required under the Municipal Corporations Act. At the meeting the various committees of the council will also be set up and the appointment of the deputyMayor and the date of the first meeting of the council attended to.
