LINTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) LINTON, May 6. The concert and dance under the auspices of the Linton Women’s Institute (the occasion being the second lpirthday of the institute) was held in the I/inton Hall on Friday night and proved a most successful function, despito the inclement weather which prevailed. The diversified concert programme was heartily enjoyed by the large audience. The items were as follow; —Pianoforte duet, Misses Irvine and N. Lynch; playette, “Nursery Rhymes,” by the Linton School children; song, Miss M. Lynch; song, Mr Walker; song, Miss F. Doherty; pianoforto, Miss Roddcn; song, Mr C. Nolan; monologue, Mr Davidson; song. Miss M. Blake; song, Mr Dan Foley; violin duet, Misses F. Doherty and M. Lynch, accompanied by Miss T. Roddcn; recitation, Mr Pearson; sketch, Messrs Davidson, Pearson, and Foley. .At the conclusion of the concert Mrs T. Lynch, president of the Women’s Institute, thanked all who contributed items to the programme, also the audience for their attendance. Mrs Lynch then introduced Mrs Boyce, of Wellington, who spoke on institute work. A dainty Bupper was handed round by the committee and afterwards the hall was clared for dancing, music being supplied by Messrs R. Brill,, L. Wilson and J. Collis, extras being played by Mrs G. Merriman and Mr W. Knipe. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr D. Lynch and Mrs 0. Davis, and a waltzing competition by Mr and Mrs D. .Currin, being judged by Mr Moyes, senr. All the duties were successfully carried out. by members of the institute, Mrs D. Currin acting as M.C. for the evening.
