VALEDICTORY.

MR AND MRS D. R. S. MUNRO FAREWELLED; The Terrace End Bowling, Croquet and Tennis Club's pavilion was the scene of a very pleasant social function, •on Saturday evening, when a large number of members foregathered to farewell their secretary, Mr D. R. S. Munro, and Mrs Munro, who are leaving for Ohakurte this week. It was every evident that Mr Munro's five years' secretarial work on behalf of the members had earned their keen appreciation, and general regret was evident at his departure. The president of the club, Mr S. H. Snell, presided. At an appropriate st.age Mr Snell called a halt in the programme so that the club could recognise in a tangible manner Mr Munro's services. In a brief speech he paid a tribute to the guest's work and to his methodical style whereby the records were consistently up-to-date. He had always been most obliging and informative when it was desired to obtain any information. Mr Snell presented Mr Munro with a handsome shaving outfit and to Mrs Munro he gave some crystal ware to mark the club's regret at her departure. Mrs Davidson, on behalf of the croquet section, presented Mrs Munro with a bouquet and 'simultaneously presented the section secretary, Mrs Scroggs, with a number of handkerchiefs in recognition of her work. In his reply, Mr Munro said he hoped that the club would continue to progress. He had endeavoured to do his best during the past five years and was sorry that his assocation with the members had to be severed. After an enjoyable dance had concluded the gathering ended at 11.30 o'clock with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
