ROTORUA TOURNAMENT. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) ROTORUA, Feb. 10. Section play in the Rotorua rinks tournament terminated last evening. The section winners are: —Section A: Pilkington (Hamilton), 9 wins; Section B, Stewart (Matamata); Section C, Robertson (Onehunga), 9; Section D, Butt (Rotorua), 9; Section E, Truscott (Carlton), 9. Palmerston North team won seven games and lost three. Rain continuous on Tuesday night and Wednesday made the greens very heavy, interfering with the play of bowlers accustomed to faster conditions. The semi-finals and finals are being played to-day.

The Palmerston North team participating in the Rotorua tournament drew a bye in their section in the seventh round on Wednesday when, owing to rain overnight, the greens were very heavy. The weather was unfavourable during the day and two rounds only were completed. In the eighth round Palmerston North lost to McLeod (Ponsonbv), 22—24. Yesterday, it was decided that the remaining games would consist 'of 15 head. In the ninth round, Momman (Rotorua) beat the Palmerston North-four, ,14 —10. TAKARO CUP RETAINED. The Woodville Bowling Club sent a strong team to Pahiatua in quest of the Takaro Cup on Wednesday afternoon, the rink comprising H. Horne, W. Currie, H. Mules and M. Pickering. Pahiatua were without their usual lead, J. E. Murphy, and Walker played lead while E. Britland came in to No. 2, G. Kershaw and G. H. Hodd (skip) filling their . customary places. 1 The match proved to be a very hard contest, Pahiatua just retaining the trophy by 17 points to 16. The rinks were 16—16 on the twentieth head.

An eleetfic light tournament was held at the Terrace End Bowling Club’s green last evening. There were excellent entries, rinks being present from Feilding, Takaro, Palmerston North and the home club. The tournament was won by Walker, Litchfield, Snell. . Eckersley (skip), Terrace End, wlio tied with another Terrace End rink and won in the play-off.
