DEBTS TO UNITED STATES.

ACTION BY PRESIDENT-ELECT

COMMUNICATION WITH AIR Macdonald.

NEW YORK, Feb. 9. Observers returning front Warm Springs report that the Presidentelect, Mr P. D. Roosevelt, is not trusting wholly to Sir Ronald Lindsay to convey his ideas on the war debts to the British Government, says the political correspondent of the New York Times. Mr Roosevelt lias been in personal communication with the British Prime Minister, Mr Ramsay' MacDonald, regarding a proper approach to the negotiations. It is understood that Mr Roosevelt is very anxious to have Mr MacDonald come to America as the British delegate, and hinted to him that his “'Ministerial silence” in London would greatly assist a final settlement. This coincides with a rumour that Mr Roosevelt is exerting pressure to halt Congressional statements; noted Democrats have been unusually reticent recently. ~ MEETING OF CABINET COMMITTEE. Received February 10, 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 8.

The Cabinet committee concerned with war debts held a further meeting which Sir Ronald Lindsay attended. Another meeting will take place tomorrow.
