REFORM IN DRESS.

PALAIEIISTON NORTH STORE’S POLICY. Conforming to the idea that men have tor long enough been required to wear conventional attire aurmg the summer months, Alessrs Colhnson and Cunninghame, Ltd., yesterday instituted a reform in men’s dress in which their male employees, to the number of about one hundred, are participating. The suits, in which they have sweltered for so many , summers, have been replacedwith a light grey worsted sports coat and trousers, and a cream tugi shirt with tie. In conversation with a reporter today, Air A. G. Roe, of the staff, stated that “everyone approved of the idea very much, and its success was reflected in the service being rendered, for working under conditions that are not congenial is not verv helpful.” He added that lady customers have quite approved of the idea and thought it splendid. It will be recollected that the Alayor of New Plymouth called a meeting of business people some little time ago when it was decided to institute reiorms in men’s dress for the summer, as the Palmerston North firm intends to do during the summer months of each year.
