It was stated in Parliament that the Irish Free State had already withhold sums amounting to . £175,000 by July 15, 1932, when the special duties came into force. The sums withheld between that date and_ January 31, 1933, amounted to £2,550,000 and the revenue from the special duties and the duties under tire Import Duties Act on goods imported from the Irish Free State amounted in all to £187,000.
