SOUTHERN CROSS.
WELCOME AT AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 27. The Southern Cross, with Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, landed at the Mangere aerodrome late this afternoon. He was accorded an enthusiastic welcome by about 5000 people. On leaving the machine Sir Charles was welcomed by the president of the Auckland Aero Club, the president of the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association and the president of the Officers’ Club. Sir Charles was accompanied by a party of 11, including his crew and a number of passengers who are travelling throughout the North Island in the machine.
