RACING NEWS

FROM STABLE AND COURSE.

(By “Binocular.”) It is reported that Lapstono has been leased to an Australian sportsman and will be shipped to Australia after the Takapuna ■meeting-. Lord Yal, who has had a let-up since the •holiday racing, may' be seen in action once again at the Matamata fixture. My Own, who has disappointed in her recent racing, was sent home after the Wellington Cup and it is , now stated that she will bo put to the stud. " Dollar Prince injured a hock recently and B. Burgess has decided to have him gelded during his compulsory spell,. Cold Mag, who won three decs in Sydney last spring, was to have been operated on at Hastings last week for respiratory troubles.

Entreaty, the dam of Phar Lap, had only been associated with one sire prior to this season, when 6he was mated with the Eng-lish-bred Iliad.

It is possible that Autopay.’s next race will bo in the James Hazlett Gold Cup seven furlongs, at the Dunedin meeting next month. He will not make the trip, however, if there is any possibility of a clash with Silver Scorn. The local horseman, K. Voitre, has now ridden 47 winners since the commencement of the 1952-33 season, and ho enjoys a lead of 14 over his nearest rival, L. J. Ellis. Voitre will attend the Takapuna meeting to-morrow when he will pilot Clay Marigold, Specdmint, Diversion and King Mcstor. Another Palmerston North horseman, W. Broughton, will ride Lorrelle and Marmorate at tho same fixture.

Tigorism was cent across the Tasman last week. Ho i; to go into tho stable of F. McGrath at Randwick, and the Sydney 'Cup is to bo his special mission. G. Jones, private trainer for Mr W. R. Kemball, travelled by the same boat, taking with him Greenhorn, Posy, Foghorn and Gape York. As a result of her solid performance in the Summer Cup at Ellerslio last month, Eager Rose is sure to be in demand if .she goes to the post in the Zcalandia Handicap at Takapuna to-morrow'. This mare has been in the money at her last three starts, and if she races up to her Ellerslie form she will keep tho rest of tho field busy throughout tho seven furlongs journey. Mr Charles Corner, who has been appointed chairman of stipendiary stewards, expects to reach New Zealand on February 7. He is being relievod of hie duties to the Western Districts Association (Victoria) at the end of this' month. Tho Ellerslio trainer W. Garrett, juni., has an addition to his team, the newcomer being a rising two-year-old by Hunting Song from Lionskin. The latter wag bred by the late Sir George Clifford, and is by Kilbroney from Counterfeit, by 1 readmill, from Delusive by Trenton, and is the dam of Patutahb Garrett intends breaking in tho youngster at once, and will then keep him in easy work until next season. Star Stranger’s half-brother, which w’as bought at the national yearling sales by Mr G. N. Magill, the New South Wales breeder, for 550 guineas, is to be named Three Star. The colt is by Night Raid from Star Lady, and is to bo raced in partnership by three Australian sportsmen, Messrs Magill, J. S. Brunton and R. McKay. The breeding and the fact that there are three owners inspired Mr Ken Austin to suggest tho name Three Star. In past seasons hacks from tho Gisborne district invariably raced well when token to outside meetings, and Aiguille proved no exception to the rule as the result of his win in the Douro Cup at Trentham. Hhe son of Threadneedle and Sabine, who is owned by. the Gisborne trainer, J. W. Nixon, won a seven-fur-long hack race at Manawatu during the holidays, and was ' also equal to winning over a similar distance in open company at the Wairarapa meeting on January 2. Aiguille is a half-brother to Autumn Sun and Autumina, both of whom have won a number of races in the Gisborne district, and he gives every indication of developing form above the average. It was a coincidence that the Palmerston North horseman, C. Thomson, who piloted Aiguille to victory, had won on Beau Gallante in tho Ilighweight—his only two mounts for the two days.

BILLY BOY’S PROGRESS. DEFINITE PROGRAMME ARRANGED The crack steeplechaser Billy Boy is having' an easy time at present, most of his tasks being confined to light exercise around the roads and hills, states tho Auckland Star. A definite programme been mapped out for Billy Boy, who will make his next appearance at the Easter meeting, which opens on April 16. His preparation will then bo continued with the view of competing at the GreaLJlorthern Steeplechase, in which event he ran unplaced last season with 10.13 on his back. At the conclusion of the latter meeting Billy Boy will be shipped to Melbourne to contest the Grand National Steeplechase and other events at the Victoria Racing Club’s winter meeting in July. He will afterwards return to the Dominion in time for the Grand National meeting to be held at Riccarton in August, where he was successful in winning tho big steeplechase event last year under the solid impost of 11.13. The son of Archiestown is thriving well on the work he is now doing and should be in tip-top order for the approaching jumping season. MANAWATU RACING CLUB. AUTUMN MEETING.
