ships concluded to-day, results being as follow: Mixed Doubles.—Semi-finals : Miss Haggitt and D. I. Robertson beat Miss A. Pragnell and G. A. Pearce, 4 —6, 7 —5, 6 —o; Miss Howell and R. A. Court beat Miss Gouid and T. Rhodes Williams, 3—6, 6 —l, 6—2. Final: Miss Howell and R. A. Court
(Hawke’s Bay) beat Miss Haggitt and I). I. Robertson (Manawatu), 6—2, 6—3. Handicap finals. —Men’s singles': A. Hobson (Greytown). Ladies’ singles: Miss Sturrock (Wellington). Men’s doubles: P. Hawkesworth and G. A. ! Pearce (Otago). Mixed doubles: Miss IA. Pragnell and G. A. Pearce.
A shoe sock which he left behind after he stole a typewriter from the Blundell Social Club, Liverpool, of which he was a member, led to the conviction of a seaman. The - fellow ' to the sock was found in liis other shoe when he was searched. He was ; sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. .
