PAHIATUA
PAIUATUA, Jan. 26. Mrs F. H. Clift, of Levin, is the guest of Mr and Mrs J. Manson. Miss Woolridge, who has been spending a few days in Napier, has returned home. Mr and Mrs G. L. Stafford, who have been touring various parts of the South Island, returned to Pahiatua yesterday. Mr R. D. Elliott, district dental superintendent (Department of Health), paid an official visit to the dental clinic yesterday. Mrs S. McNab, of Dannevirke, is visiting her sister, Mrs K. A. Gardner, Georgo Street. Mrs J. Roberts and family, of Wellington, are the guests of Mrs Guy Udy, of Hukanui. A quiet wedding was solemnised at St. Peter’s Church, Pahiatua, on Tuesday last, when Kathleen Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. E. Barnes, of Konini, was married to Lionel Millington, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. M. Clark, “Westlawn,” Penistone, Yorkshire, England. The ceremony was performed by Rev. V. A. Bianohi.
A meeting of the Pahiatua Boxing Club was held with Mr A. P. Jensen in the chair. It was decided to hold a boxing tournament on Show night, the main attraction being a bout between Harold Reeves, light heavyweight amateur _ champion of New Zealand, and W. Bilish, of Wellington.
