RELIEF FOR UNEMPLOYED.
MAYOR VISITS WELLINGTON. Yesterday tlie Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford) journeyed to Wellington in order to place the position of Palmerston North relief workers before both the Minister of Employment (Hon. A. Hamilton) and the Unemployment Board. Mr Mansford first called on the Minister and was closeted with him till about 1 p.m., when lie went to confer with the Unemployment Board. In the afternoon, in company with Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., he again called on Hon. A. Hamilton and an assurance was given that the matter would be looked into and a reply forwarded to-day through Mr Nash. The Mayor is thus hopeful that the position will be considerably improved as a result of the overtures.
