PERSONAL.
Dr. W. Morton has commenced duty as house surgeon at the Palmerston North Hospital. A cablegram from Melbourne reports the death at the ago o? SS years of Mr David Yorke Syme, chairman of directors of the Melbourne Steamship Company. His son is at present managing director of that company and also Harbour Trust Commissioner.
Friends of Mr A. J. Shailer, of Albert Street, will regret that he had to re-enter hospital on Sunday for further treatment'. An inquiry this morning showed that he is as 'well as can be expected.
At the conclusion of the special musical service at the Cuba Street Methodist Church, on Sunday night, the choir made a presentation to their conductor, Mr H. T. Pitcher in recognition of his valuable work during the year. A small presentation was also made to Mrs Pitcher.
