rp, UMUTOI, Dec. 19. lne annual school sports meeting and picnic as held at Riri Riri on Friday. Uhe Weather was ideal and there wag a large gathering of schoolchildren, parents and friends, and a most enjoyable day wao spent amid the beautiful native trees which fringe the river at this spot. Swimming t>ro\ ed a popular pastime. There was a large programme of events under the supervision of the school committee, the results being as follow: Infants’ race, Pat Enright 1, Margaret Bastion 2, Patty Pettigrew 3. Primers: Patty Pettigrew 1, Brian picsdalo 2, Martin Xcsdale 3. Girls, under 6 (herd -Motors trophy), Margaret Pettigrew 1, Pen Enwright 2. Standards 1 and 2: Dick Bastion 1, 11. Buckman 2. Standards 3 and 4 : Pat Forbes 1, Ivyv Sixtus 2, Vita trgnal 3. Standards 3 and over, girls: Ivy Sixtus 1, Kita Signal 2, Ruby Sixtus 3; boys, Reg. Buckman 1, Lewis Bastion 2, Vernon Hart 3. Standards 4, 5 and 6, boys: Lloyd t Hammings 1, Hugh Hammings 2. Consolation race, girls: Joan Enright 1. Vita Signal 2; boys, Hugh Hammings 1, Harry Enright 2. was served and Mr S. Hart proceeded with the prize giving. Special mention was made of the six children who received attendance certificates. Four of these have not missed more than five half-days during the year, but Lloyd Hemmings has attended school for five years without missing a day and Hugh Hcmminpn has completed his third year without being absent one day. Mr 0. H. Bennett’s prize for most progress during the year was won by Daisy Sixtus. A dance was held in the hall in tho evening and proved to be a most enjoyable gathering. A dainty supper was served by the ladies, and music was supplied by Misses J. Scarle, K. Scarle, M. Signal and Messrs T. Scarle, F. Harvey, E. Buckman and J. Cawood. Air J. 0. Hagan fulfilled the duties of M.O.
