HORNET MODEL AERO CLUB.
The Hornet Model Aero Club held its fortnightly meeting for the Griffiths Endurance Cup on the gasworks site on Saturday. Mr A. WOodd carried out the duties as timekeeper, while Mr H. G. Parker acted as scorer.
During the previous week some good flights were recorded, pilot R. A. Howe being successful in breaking the previous club record of 58 1-5 seconds, held by himself, with a flight of 1 minute 34 seconds, before the ’plane was clocked down out of sight. Mr A. Twigg was also successful in becoming an ace, having put up a flight of 1 minute 17 2-5 seconds.
The best totals obtained for the cup were as follow:—Mr A. Twigg, 104 2-5 seconds; Mr J. Howe, 91 1-5 seconds; Mr G. Bullen, 54 4-5 seconds. The previous cup holder, R. Morgan, was unable to compete. The club is greatly indebted to Mr Currin for the donation of a banner for squadron competition, points being given for attendance as well as flying on Saturdays.
