LAUNCESTON Dec. 19. To England’s total of 502 Tasmania in the last day of the match at Launceston replied with. 229 in the first innings, Badcock being top scorer with 57 and Putnam next with 56 not out. Mitchell took six wickets for 70 runs. The eighth wicket partnership realised 56. The innings lasted 200 minutes.

Tasmania followed on and scored 147.

England won by an innings and 126 runs.

In the Shieffield Shield match against New South Wales, South Australia in the second innings, scored 251 (Nitcnke •27, Catclilove 32, Tobin 61). O’Reilly took three wickets for 55 runs; Stewart. three for 58; Howell, two for 51; McCabe two for 25. New South Wales in the seoond innings has lost seven wickets for 75 runs. McCabe was top scorer with 19.

New South Wales’s sensational collapse when within sight of an easy outright victory was due to the deadly bowling of Wall and Grimmett, the former taking four wickets for 25. However, New South Wales requires only 11 runs to win with three wickets in hand.
