MONEY FOR PENSIONS.
BRITAIN’S HUGE BILL.

Striking figures regarding British war pension payments were given today bv Major Tryon, Pensions Minister. lie said that the beneficiaries numbered about 1,250,000, and that by the end of the present year Britain’s expenditure on the war pensions would have reached the figure of £1,060,000,000 and was l>eing continued at the rate of nearly £1.000,000 weekly. “These figures,” ho said, “are considerably larger than the amounts paid by any other nation, ally or enemy, which took part in the war. The cost of administration is less than 4d in the £l. Over 90 per cent, of the disabled are now in secure possession of their title to a pension. _ “Despite the subsequent reduction in the cost of living and the severe economies practised in practical y all other branches of national expenditure, war pension rates have remained uncut since they were fixed in IJIJ.
