RAILWAY PROJECT.
BOUIIKE TO PORT DARWIN. SYDNEY, Dec. 5. The Federal Ministry has a. proposal under consideration for building a railway from Bourke, New South Wales, through a portion of Queensland and the Northern Territory to Port Darwin. It is understood that a British and local syndicate is prepared to undertake the construction providing the Government grants leasehold, also freehold, rights over an enormous area of grazing lands in the Northern Territory and a 99 years’ lease of Bathurst or Melville Island. It is estimated that the cost of the line will be £15,000,000.
