(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Dec. 5. I no Otaki Plunkot Society acknowledges with thanks a donation of £i 10 s from Mrs C. C. Holmes, of Manakau. Some 200 boys will arrive in Otaki in charge of Rev. I' iolden Taylor at an early date and go into camp on tho racecourse. A number of Y.M.C.A. boys will also go into camp here, while Scouts from Lyall Ba.v will camp at the beach. A shop day in aid of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind was held on Sat urday.
The 1.0.0. F. shop flay on Saturday proved successful, ami a deal of credit is due to those who were in charge. A meeting of members of the ' Otaki Cycle Club was held on Friday night, Mr L. Kilmister presiding. Correspondence was read from the centre relative to u proposed sports nieeting on Anniversary Day. and suggesting that, (lie club endeavour to arrange with the Porirua Club to have the flay allotted to It, The secretary (Mr Kiddie) reported that he had written to tlie Porirua Club on the matter and had received an answer that they could not depart from Anniversary Day, it being the only day that the ground 'wns. available. and stated that If tho Otaki Club would agree to allow them that day they would do all they could to assist tho club at a sports meeting if held on other than Anniversary Day. Mr E. Grnndfield and his son, Mr W. Grandlleld, returned to Otaki on Saturday, after a very pleasant trip through the northern part of the island. The halfycnrly meeting of tho Whareroa bodge was presided over by A.D. Bro. M. J. Maclean. Thorn wns n fair attendance of members, while two new members were uccopted. Tlie following officers wore oloot. d for the ensuing term; —A. D., Bro. L. Howell; V.A.D., Bro. T. Dowsctt,; sooretary, Bro. G. Mowbray (ro-electod); treasurer, P.S. Bro. O. Baucko (re-elobt-od); 1.G., Bro. S. Richardson; 0.G., Bro. C. B. Reeve; A.D.S.’s. Sister A. Baucko and Bro. .J. Larsen; V.A.D.B.’s, P.A. Bro. G.C. Maclean and Bro. T. Clunie; Grand Lodge delegate, D.P. Bro. Beckett. The social and modical committees were also appointed. It is seldom that Otaki is favoured with a visit from the Wellington Bowling Centre, but at the week-end no fewer than 16 players made the trip. On arrival they were entertained at morning tea, while in tho afternoon were treated to a nice afternoon tea, both presided over by the ladies. Mr H. Nicholson (president) on behalf of the Otaki Bowling Club, welcomed tho visitors. Mr W. Perry, in reply, stated that members of the Centre had lmd a most enjoyable time, and thanked the Otaki Club for its warm-hearted hospitality. lie hoped that, members of the latter would visit Wellington. Mr Perry also thanked the ladies who had served ten.
