BOWLING
MANAWATU WIN MANSON AND BARR CUP. On Saturday afternoon a rink from the Manawatu Bowling Club visited Pahiatua and succeeded in winning the Manson and Barr Cup by 2d points to 22. The rinks were as follow: Manawatu (Hunter, Porter, lnglis, Kershaw, skip); Pahiatua (Petersen, Walsh, Burrell, Britland, skip). Manawatu secured one on the first head and Pahiatua four on the second. Two singles on the third and fourth heads to Manawatu left them 3—4 down. Each side then scored three on the next two heads, and the game seesawed in like fashion for the next four heads, twos being scored alternately by each side, so that Pahiatua led 11 —10 on the tenth, which they increased by one next head (12 —10). Manawatu scored 3 —] — l on the next three heads, leading 15 to 12 on the fourteenth head. Britland’s rink replied with a four, regaining the lead, 16—15. Each side then secured two on the two following heads. A four to Manawatu on the enghteenth head left them leading 21—18. Returning to the attack, Pahiatua replied with a four and again secured the lead. 22 21. Kershaw’s rink then put in a finishing run which was not to be denied, and securing the last two heads with two and three, left them with a margin of four in the lead.
RINKS FOR WEDNESDAY. The Northern Club will make a return visit to the Bulls Club on Wednesday afternoon, cars leaving the green at 1 o'clock. Four rinks will be engaged as follow:—Ranson, McMurray, McKee, Wort (skip); Parkes, Levy, Lynch, Rabone (skip); Roulston, Binns, Beattie, Bennett (skip); Kensington, Macpherson, G. Mills, Stiles (skip). The Manawatu Club will be represented by the following rinks in-a friendly match with Palmerston North on Wednesday:—At home, Chilton, Jackson, King, Radford (skip); at Palmerston North, Robertson, Carlisle, Kershaw (skip). *
