APPRENTICE JOCKEY KILLED.
FATALITY NEAR ASHHURST. George Douglas Urwin, aged 1". the eldest son of Mr and Mrs G. W. Urwin, of Cook Street, Foxton. was killed instantly on a farm at Hiwinui. near Ashhurst, yesterday, when a horse which he was riding slipped and fell on him. He was a jockev apprentice employed by Mr. L. E. ‘Wallace. Deceased was riding a racehorse on the plough at about 10 o’clock when the animal slipped, and, in rolling over on to him, crushed his head. When Dr. C. King, of Palmerston North, arrived, he pronounced lii'o extinct.
