Considerable interest is being taken in tho presentation of “Tho Messiah” at tho Opera Houso on Wednesday night. During the last fow wooks tho chorus of 130 voices comprising the combined choirs of Palmerston North has boon practising under tho direction of Mr J. Holmos Runniclos, tho conductor, and it is considered to bo the best chorus yet got togothor in tho city. An orchestra of 30 players, led by Mrs R. S Law, will provido the accompaniment for this great vocal effort. Tho soloists aro tho best obtainable in Now Zealand, and comprise Miss Naomi Whalloy (soprano), Miss Norah Greono, of Wellington (contralto), Mr Win. Watters (baritone), and Mr J.’ T. Battersby, of Hamilton (tenor). Tho Roliof Committee decided to make the prico of admission to ail parts a modost 2s with tho pit at la, so that ovoryono can attend what promisos to bo a groat musical treat. The box plan is now open and seats may bo resorved on roquost. As tho Relief Committee is in urgont need of funds a capacity houso would be of great financial assistance as well a* a tribute to tho 150 people taking part in the presentation of tho oratorio.
