THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. A complex depression has been covering the New Zealand area during the past two days. An anti-cyclone located over the western Tasman Sea has been losing intensity. Moderate to strong south-westerly to southerly winds. Seas rather rough north of Farewell Spit and south of East Cape; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong southerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with moderate to rather rough seas. Weather unsettled, dull -and misty, with rain in most districts. Cool temperatures. BAROMETER RISING. The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day : —The indications are for moderate to strong west to southwest winds. There is a prospect of fair weather. The barometer has a rising tendency. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —Ift. 3ias.
