FEDERAL CRIMES ACT.
AMENDING LEGISLATION Received December 3, 10.0 a.m. CANBERRA, Dec. 3. The Amending Crimes Bill, said by Senator Daly to assail the freedom of the Press which had taken centuries td establish, was carried through all stages in the Senate. In Committee, Senator McLachlan had an amendment inserted providing; a maximum penalty of £SOO or two years for a person publishing any seditious matter, also a maximum penalty of £IOOO or life for a person knowingly inciting members of the King's forces to mutinv.
