GOVERNMENT’S AIM
WELLINGTON, Dec. 2
“We will look favourably on anything that will stimulate work,” said the acting-Minister of Employment, Hon. A Hamilton, when the Auckland City Council’s plan of works was mentioned t0 “Wo first of all must know what the nature of the proposition is, and what it involves before we can express an opinion ” He said ho would be pleased to hear what the council had to propound. The Minister added that the board would probably have considered favournblv suggestions made regarding bridge proposals had the terms been suitable.
Proposals for approaching tho Unemployment Board with a view to substitnflmr a programme of constructive mum cipal works costing £160,500 at standard rates of wages for the present rolief works under No 5 scheme, were approved by tho Auckland City Council at- a special meeting.
