IMPORTS AND EXPORTS. RETURNS FOR SEPTEMBER. IMPROVEMENT IN COTTON TRADE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received October 13, 9.50 a.m . LONDON, Oct. 12. Tho Board of Trade returns for September show that the total imports were £54,266,000 and the total exports £26,228,000; the re-exports being £2,901,000. Compared with September of last year, the principal decreases in imports were : Grain and flour, £739,000 ; meat, £914,000; animals for food, £957,000: wool and timber, £692,000; iron and steel and manufactures thereof, £967,000; cotton yarns and manufactures, £697,000; woollen yarns and manufactures, £1,150,000; apparel, £1,383,000; vehicles, £606,000. The principal decreases in exports were: Coal, £604,000: vehicles, £969,000. The principal increases in imports were: Raw cotton, £959,000; and in exports, cotton yarns and manufactures, £660,000.
