OBITUARY.
The death occurred on Monday morning at Makowhai, of Mr Herman Behrent, (writes the “Standard’s” Rongotea correspondent). Born in Germany, Mr Behrent camo to Halcombe with his parents 56 vears ago and had resided in this district ever since. He was very well known as a contractor, and did his full share in road formation, and other pioneering work. A member of the Lutheran Church, and a gentleman who lived an upright honourable life, he was much respected He is survived by his wife and throe’daug,iters —Mrs A Kenny and Mr 3 A. Wadsworth (Castlecliff), Mrs Lawrence (Alberta Canada) —and six sons-Edward (Potone), Albert (Marton). William, Uiomas, Harold nnd Gconre (Manawatu). Two sons made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War, Arthur who died of wounds in France, and Walter, who was killed on GallipolL
