ARBITRATION BILL INTRODUCED

BUDGET DEBATE DBAGS ON

Practically the whole of yesterday afternoon in the House of Representatives was devoted to a discussion on a Bill amending- the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, introduced by Mr J. McCombs, and as a result the Budget debate was further prolonged, so that it is not likely to conclude to-night, as hoped by the Prime Minister. Mr McCombs’s Bill has as its object the restoration of compulsory arbitration. The first Government measure made its appearance in the evening. It is a Bill designed to prevent the withdrawal of local body sinking fund investments from the Public Trustee until 1935.
