CITIZENS’ COMMITTEE

ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHOW. Matters in connection with general arrangements for the- programme at the approaching Koyal Show were discussed at a meeting of the Palmerston North Citizens’ Show Committee last evening. Mr V. T. Dibble presided over a good attendance. Tho chairman stated that arrangements had been made for boxing tournaments on the "Wednesday and Friday nights of the Show, and for wrestling at the Saturday evening session. Communitv singing would be held on the Thursday night. Tho Citizens’ Show Committee had been asked by the Boxing and Wrestling Associations to finalise tho details for the tournaments. Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., would bo supervising the community singing. . , The Manawatu Kennel Club intimated that it would hold an exhibition in conjunction with the lloyal Show. It conveyed thanks to the Citizens’ Show Committee for assistance which had been given. Mr E. Dart, of Sydney, a leading judge, had been engaged, and this, combined with the unremitting energies of the Kennel Club Committee, should ensure record entries. The suggestion was advanced that on the Saturday afternoon of tho Royal Show cycle race events should be held in conjunction with decorated bicycle competitions for boys and girls. Messrs J. R. Hughes and A. H. M. Wright were deputed to co-operate with the Cyclo Club in preparing tho I track.

Representing the Model .Aeroplane Club, Mr Parker undertook to arrange for exhibitions by model ’planes between the races.

It was decided, provided suitable arrangements could be made, to incorporate in the general programme a parade of decorated vehicles find animals.

The chairman stated that the Pipe and Garrison Bands had offered to assemble in the Square and march to the grounds. All technical classes and others interested had been advised concerning the model engineering section at the Show, reported Mr Coley. It was also stated that some forty models would be exhibited in the model aeroplane section. Mr F. T. Vascy stated that some 20 of these would bo coming from outside districts, but no indication had yet been received from Auckland. Mr A. Hopwood said the Dannevirke Club had promised to send models. “The help we have had, particularly during the last few weeks, has been very encouraging,” stated Mr Hopwood in expressing appreciation of the support given by the Manawatu and "West Coast A. and P. Association to all proposals brought forward.
