LARGE SUM LOST IN YACHT.
CRAFT SINKS IN FLAAIES. Aloney and valuables worth £IOO,OOO are believed to have been lost in the magnificent motor-yacht Ladybird, which was destroyed by fire at Alonte Carlo recently. The yacht was anchored in the bay while its owners—Captain Gordon Hausey, of Oxfordshire, and a business colleague, Air William Clayton—were ashore on a fishing expedition. Suddenly flames were seen to pour from the yacht, and two French sailors, who had been left on board, leaped for their lives and swam ashore. Before help could arrive the yacht was a mass of flames —for there were 200 gallons of petrol on board—and the blackened hull quickly sank, taking with it all the possessions of its owners, who were forced to spend the night in an hotel without money or papers or anything but the clothes they stood in.
