THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. A rather intense depression has moved on to the Dominion, its centre yesterday being near the northern districts. An anti-cyclone still covers eastern Australia. Variable winds at first, but moderate to strong southerly soon prevailing generally. Seas rather rough north of Farewell Spit and Akaroa: elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong southerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, and rough seas. Weather unsettled, cloudy and misty, with rain in most districts and some heavy falls from Nelson and Marlborough northward. Temperatures becoming cooler. DISTRICT REPORT. RAIN PROBABLE. The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day : —The indications are for moderate south-easterly winds. The weather will be cloudy to overcast with scattered showers and rain is probable, but it is gradually improving. Tlie barometer is rising slowly. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —3ft.
