Rev. J. D. McFarlane, of Waihi, has been appointed to the charge of the Presbyterian Church at Waipu. Dr. Vaughan Thomas, examiner for the Trinity College of Music, London, is at present visiting Palmerston North. Mr D. Jones was unanimously reelected chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board for the ensuing twelve months at the board’s recent meeting. Mr C. F. Day, formerly stationmaster at Palmerston North, who is now living in retirement at Wanganui, is spending a holiday in Palmerston North.- He was stationed at this centre 13 years ago.

Mr J. Coppell, who has been /attached to the Auckland office of the Labour Department for the past eight years, has been transferred to Palmerston North where lie assumes the duties of inspector of factories. Prior to leaving Auckland Mr Coppell was presented with a fountain pen by his fellow departmental officers. Mr Albert Brayshaw, of 45 Campbell Street, whose death occurred in the Palmerston North Hospital on Saturday, had been a resident of the city for the.past 24 years and, by reason of his occupation of plasterer, was well known in building circles. The deceased gentleman was a native of Blenheim, and in 1908 lie came north to enter the employ of Mr T. Wass, of Palmerston North, and ho was so engaged at the time of his death. A fortnight prior to his fatal illness Mr Brayshaw contracted influenza. Complications followed and it early became apparent that there was little hope of his recovering. There are left to mourn his passing a and family of five children, Messrs Hubert, Rav and George Brayshaw and Misses Elsie and Vena Brayshaw, all being residents of Palmerston North.
