PROFESSIONAL CYCLING.
100-MILE EVENT. The annua! 100-mile road race to Wanganui and back for the Evans Cup and replica will be held by the Counties’ Cash Cycling Club on Saturday. The race will commence from Terrace End at 9 a.m. sharp, and the riders will travel by way of Ruahine Street, Milson to the Kairanga-Bunnytkorpe Road and along this road to Rangitikei Line and on to Wanganui. The riders will return over the same route. Food stations will be at Turakina on the way out, with a compulsory stop of two minutes at the River at Bulls on the homeward trip. Road officials for the day will be Messrs Evans, Thoreau, Barrett, Collins, Jeffries and Mayo, while Mr Weston J. Smith has consented to act as official timekeeper. The handicaps issued for the race are as follow:—T. French, G. Hunt 50min., I. Jones 40, S. Ward, A. Jeffries 34. J. Christensen 29, A. Ganderton 25, T. Richards 20, W. Collins rcr. „ The club is indebted to Messrs Grace, F Swindell, J. Boucher and S. W. R. Evans for donations. The finish -will take place at the end of Broadway in front of St. Peter’s Church.
