HOROWHENUA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Sept. 26. A meeting of nearly 100 unemployed was held at Otaki on Friday evening, when various matters of interest were discussed. The chairman and secretary tendered their resignations owing to a disagreement. Mr A. Bicknell, ex-Mayor of Greytown, was elected chairman and the position of secretary was held in abeyance. Welcome rain fell in the district to-day. Feed is now becoming plentiful and stock are looking well. More rain, however, is needed. Football has now finished and the bowling season ’"'ll be opened on Saturday next.
