FOXTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Sept. 27.
For the past two years prior to the quarterly meetings of the Foxton Fire Board two Wellington representatives (Messrs A. H. Clerko and L. A. Hutton) and two of the Foxton representatives (Messrs J. K. Hornblow and M. E. Perreau) have indulged in a game of golf. Honours have oscillated and trophies have been exchanged. The local representatives, however, decided to obtain a permanent trophy and this in the shape of two handsomely polished Japanese oak caskets containing a medallion appropriately inscribed and with the Fire Board monogram was presented at the conclusion of the meeting last week when board members assembled at a local tearoom and partook of refreshments. Mr H. Billens, of Palmerston North, conducted both morning and evening services at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Arrangements in connection with the church, which is now without a minister, will be finalised on Tuesday evening. Welcome rain has fallen in Foxton and district during tho past forty-eight hours. The country is now looking particularly well and feed is coming on fast.
