FOXTON FLOWER SHOW

FINE ARRAY OF BLOOMS

(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Sept. 17. Slices? attended the Foxto'n Horticultural Society's spring show, held in the Town Hall yesterday. Despite the dry winter and heavy frosts experienced until quite recently the bulb section was the largest on record for rnanv years. This was due, possibly to the large number of exhibitors front outside districts, Rongotea and Otaki being promient in this connection. Other blooms were also numerous and the exhibition was considered one of the best seen locally. Mr J. Linklater M. I’, opened the show, and, in doing so, complimented those responsible for the pretty staging of the flowers and exhibitors on the quality of their blooms. Mr Linklater touched on various matters of local interest including the Whirokino Highway and the train service. He stated that he was urging the Railway Department to put a rail car on the Foxton line, and could see no reason why it could not be run at a profit. He congratulated the president on the progress the society had made. The prize liet is as follows: — BULBS. (Judge: Mr A. J. Shailer: stewards, Mr D. R. Ogilvy and Miss K. Barber.)
